For almost 90 years, the United Way of Central Massachusetts has played a critical role in the local community by helping those in need. As community leaders, we convene local resources - donors, volunteers, partners, and agencies to address the most critical human needs, and create a positive, measurable impact in the community.

United Way and the American Human Development Project have just released the Common Good Forecaster™, a free online tool that lets people see for themselves how improving the education level has a positive impact on several key economic and social measures.
The Common Good Forecaster projects how a change in the education profile of the nation, a state, or local community is linked to wide-ranging ripple effects in ten critical social and economic indicators.

Community Support Fund distributes $125,000 to help ease local needs
At the start of this winter, United Ways across the state worked together to form the Community Support Fund as a way of creating a safety net for individuals and families in crisis. Leveraging the support of local residents, this fund has provided much needed assistance to the local agencies working hard to fill the needs for food, shelter and fuel assistance in our community. Unfortunately, the needs are greater than ever. Unemployment rates are still rising, bills from a long winter of staying warm have pilled up, home foreclosure is a grim reality for too many in our community and the shelves at the food pantries are becoming bare.
As the work continues to fill these needs, please consider making a donation to The Community Support Fund online or by calling 2-1-1. |
