UWCM's Women's Initiative
Our
growing initiative, 700 members strong, engages the drive, dedication and
determination of women and children in Central Massachusetts. Their current
priority, violence in the lives of middle school age girls, is being addressed
through strategically funded programs and community education. In only 3 years,
more than $500,000 has been raised for programs that decrease the incidence of
violence in the lives of girls. Click here to view committee member lists.

The Investing in Girls Alliance
An unprecedented Investing In Girls Alliance was announced today, and the Women's Initiative is a significant part of the coalition. It was standing room only at the press conference at Sullivan Middle School, Worcester, where many of the attendees were adolescent girls.
During the event, the comprehensive needs assessment research, underwritten by a grant from the Women's Initiative, was released. The research was compiled from girls, parents and providers from Worcester and seven surrounding towns. The needs assessment is the most comprehensive research done to date that is specific to girls in central Massachusetts and is the first to gather, examine, and take action on gender specific data.
