Volunteer Positions: Site Greeters and Foreign Language Translators

We have four VITA sites in the Worcester and last tax season, we assisted 1800 families with free tax preparation. Many of those families also received the Earned Income Tax Credit and the Child Tax Credit. Most of our sites begin in late January and close mid April and the hours of operation are from approximately 5:00 to 9:00 on weeknights and 9:00 – 2:00 on Saturday. Individuals who volunteer after work can arrive at their convenience. We ask that individuals volunteer 4 hours per week. We are most willing to accommodate vacation plans.

SPANISH INTERPRETER: Some of the families who visit our sites, English is not their first language. The Worcester EITC Coalition feels strongly that our clients be culturally comfortable at our sites and would like to engage individuals who are fluent in Spanish and English to act as translators for those families. The Translator works closely with the VITA Site Greeter and Tax Preparer. Tax form training is provided.

VITA SITE GREETER: The Greeter is the liaison between the tax preparer and the tax payer and ensures that the client has the correct documentation to have their taxes prepared. Spanish speakers are strongly encouraged to apply. Training provided.

Although, these opportunities begin in a few weeks, volunteers welcome at anytime during the tax season.
