Friends and guests who joined us for the United Way’s 2018 Annual Celebration at Mechanics Hall, were both informed and inspired by all the ways our community comes together through United Way, to touch lives and deliver positive impact where it matters most. Some of our results include
- Preparing 2,168 tax returns, resulting in more than $3.6 million in refunds to low income working families in Worcester.
- 24,734 calls to 2-1-1 – just between January and April 2018 – connecting people with the resources and information they need at a critical moment.
- 23 new, safe play spaces created by 1,200 volunteers in the heart of our city’s neighborhoods.
- 98 nights at Hotel Grace, providing 400 homeless neighbors with warmth, safety, and refuge on the coldest nights of this past winter.
If United Way is going to continue delivering positive impact in our community, making a difference where it matters most, we need your help.
Now is an especially important time to give, when your donation will help us deliver summer programming for children and young teens, including Worcester YouthConnect, and our summer literacy initiative – programs that promote academic success, and offer a wide variety of healthy, fun, supervised activities.
In addition, this summer we will introduce a new program for the critically important age of 13 – 16: WooServes will engage younger teens in local volunteer projects.
